Overview: Conversion-only Analytics

The conversion-only analytics option is designed to show you how many conversions result from clicks that are generated by your Yahoo! campaign.

A conversion is a completed transaction event on your site. Examples include:

  • A purchase
  • A site registration
  • A newsletter sign-up
  • A request for price quote
  • Other lead-generating activity

The conversion-only analytics option helps you analyze your conversion data:

  • It tracks conversion data at the account, campaign, ad group and keyword levels.
  • NEW: It also helps track Assists1. An assist occurs when a keyword has contributed to a conversion that was credited to a different keyword.
  • It enables you to test and evaluate the performance of your Sponsored Search and Content Match campaigns.
  • As you learn which keywords drive the most conversions, you can make informed decisions about your account, including how to allocate your budget and how to improve under-performing ads.
  • Decisions like these can help you optimize the overall performance of your account and ultimately drive more sales.
  • Other lead-generating activity

In addition to conversions, you’ll be able to see the following metrics in the pages and reports:

  • Revenue: The total revenue generated by the conversions.
  • CPA (cost-per-action): (Advertising costs/number of conversions) measures how much it costs for you to obtain the desired action (an action might be a purchase of a product, a download of an application or a registration for a service).
  • ROAS (return-on-advertising-spend): (Profit/advertising cost) shows how effective the advertising spend is at generating profits.

Benefits

  • It’s free: Log into your account to get started today.
  • Easy activation: Activation is a two-step, copy-and-paste process using an HTML tag we provide.
  • Budget optimization: Allocate your resources to the keywords and categories that perform the best.

How It Works

  1. Log into your account.
  2. From the Administration tab, select the Analytics link.
  3. Click the “Enable Analytics” button.
  4. In the Conversion Only panel, select “Constant Average Value” or “Dynamic Value.” If you select “Constant Average Value”, enter the amount and click “Save.”
  5. Copy the tag—a small piece of HTML code—and paste it onto the confirmation page on your site.

Please note:

  • The tag is invisible to your customers and generally will not impact the performance or look of your site in any way.
  • These tags are placed on transaction completion pages, such as a “Thank You” or “Purchase Confirmation” page.
  • If you choose Constant Value and want to change the amount, you should replace the tag on your confirmation page.

1Assists must occur within 45 days of the conversion event to be recorded. Within any 45 day period, a conversion can have a maximum of 30 assists recorded.
