Enter Campaign Name and Geo-Targeting

You'll see the Enter Campaign Name and Geo-Targeting page as you go through the process of creating a campaign. Use this page to give your campaign a name and target prospective customers in the geographic locations you support. By default, your ads will be displayed to your entire market, but you can target more specific regions.

Note: The market for your account was selected during signup. If your business spans multiple markets, create an account for each market.

Quick Summary

To complete this step:

  1. If you have more than one account, select the account from the Account dropdown list.

  2. Enter a unique campaign name. The campaign name can be up to 50 characters long and can't duplicate a campaign name in the account.

  3. (Optional) Enter a description for the campaign. The description is optional. You can use it for details about the campaign. If this account has many campaigns, the description can help you identify the campaign later.

  4. Select the geographic locations. See detailed instructions for each option below.

  5. Click the Next button.

Selecting Geographic Locations

Your entire market is the country or multi-country region that you're advertising in. By default, your ads will be displayed to your entire market, which was selected during signup. However, you can also target specific regions such as country, state/province, designated market area (DMA), city, or ZIP/postal code.

To target your entire market:

  • Select Entire Market in the Target by box.

To target prospective customers by country, state/province, DMA, or city:

  1. In the Target by box, select Country, State/Province, Designated Market Area, or City, depending on which you want to target. A list of countries appears in the lower panel.

  2. If you are targeting by country, you can select the country or countries you want to target. If you are targeting by state/province, DMA, or city, you can expand the country lists so that you can expand or select specific states/provinces followed by DMAs or cities.

To target prospective customers by ZIP code and/or postal code:

  1. In the Target by box, select ZIP/Postal Code. The search panel appears below.

  2. In the search panel, enter up to 250 ZIP and/or postal codes that you would like to target. Enter one per line (without commas or any other separation characters), and then click Submit. A list of locations found based on the ZIP/postal codes you entered appears in the lower panel.

  3. Click the checkboxes that correspond to the ZIP/postal codes to target.

Note: Targeting by ZIP/postal codes could result in very little traffic, depending on the number of ZIP/postal codes you include and the population sizes within them.

If you need to remove targeted regions that you just added:

  1. Click the Targeted Regions tab in the lower right panel. The tab opens with a list of the regions you currently have selected for targeting.

  2. If you want to remove all targeted regions, click Remove All. When prompted, click OK to confirm that you want to remove all of your targeted regions.

  3. If you want to remove specific regions that you have targeted, click the removal icon to the left of the region you want to remove.

Notes

  • Geo-targeting accuracy is not guaranteed and may vary depending on the level of targeting selected, as well as other factors.

  • Geo-targeting accuracy is impacted when we cannot determine a user’s location from their IP address. If the location of the user cannot be determined then that user will not be served geo-targeted ads.

  • The United States and Canada market does not include French ads.
