Ad Group General Information

Use the Ad Group General Information page to enter an ad group name and to turn the ad group status, optimization, and watch list on or off.

Understanding Ad Group Status

The ad group's status appears near the top of the Ad Group General Information page, showing the ad group's current status information and whether or not the ad group is active. Next to this status information is a button that you can click to take action on the current status. For more information on statuses, refer to the Statuses help topic.

Note: If an ad group or its parent campaign is not active, then the title in the breadcrumb (the navigation path below the tabs at the top of the screen) appears in red text and the page background appears grayed out.

Ad Group General Information Settings

Ad Group general information settings include:

  • Ad Group Name—Enter a name to identify your ad group. The ad group name must be unique within a campaign.

  • Optimize Ad Display—For ad groups that employ the Sponsored Search tactic, turn ad display optimization on or off. Ad display optimization finds your top-performing ads based on guidelines you provide, and deactivates any ads that significantly underperform. If you enable analytics and tag your web site, you can optimize for metrics like conversions and revenue; impression and click metrics are always available.

  • Watch List—Add or remove the ad group from your watch list by selecting Yes or No from the Watch List field. You can view your watched ad groups in the Dashboard page. You can also filter lists of ad groups using the watch flag in several campaign pages.
