Campaign Geo-Targeting

Use the Campaign Geo-Targeting page to target prospective customers in the geographic locations you support. By default, your geo-targeting preference is set to display ads to your entire market. However, you can also target specific regions.

Targeting Your Entire Market

To target your entire market:

  1. Click the Campaigns tab. The Campaigns page opens.

  2. Identify a campaign and click its link. The Campaign Details page opens.

  3. Click the Campaign Settings link. The Campaign Settings page opens.

  4. Click the Edit button in the Campaign Geo-Targeting panel. The Campaign Geo-Targeting page opens.

  5. In the Target by box, select Entire Market.

  6. Click Save Changes.

Note: The market for your account was selected during signup. If your business spans multiple markets, you will need to create an account to support each market.

Targeting by Country, State/Province, Designated Market Area (DMA), or City

To target prospective customers by country, state/province, DMA, or city

  1. Click the Campaigns tab. The Campaigns page opens.

  2. Identify a campaign and click its link. The Campaign Details page opens.

  3. Click the Campaign Settings link. The Campaign Settings page opens.

  4. Click the Edit button in the Campaign Geo-Targeting panel. The Campaign Geo-Targeting page opens.

  5. In the Target by box, select Country, State/Province, Designated Market Area, or City, depending on which you want to target. A list of countries appears in the lower panel.

  6. If you are targeting by country, you can select the country or countries you want to target. If you are targeting by state/province, DMA, or city, you can expand the country lists so that you can expand or select specific states/provinces followed by DMAs or cities.

  7. After you have selected the regions you want to target, click Save Changes to apply the targeted regions to your campaign.

Targeting by ZIP/Postal Code

To target prospective customers by ZIP code and/or postal code:

  1. Click the Campaigns tab. The Campaigns page opens.

  2. Identify a campaign and click its link. The Campaign Details page opens.

  3. Click the Campaign Settings link. The Campaign Settings page opens.

  4. Click the Edit button in the Campaign Geo-Targeting panel. The Campaign Geo-Targeting page opens.

  5. In the Target by box, select ZIP/Postal Code. The search panel appears below.

  6. In the search panel, enter up to 250 ZIP and/or postal codes that you would like to target. Enter one per line (without commas or any other separation characters), and then click Submit. A list of locations found based on the ZIP/postal codes you entered appears in the lower panel.

  7. Click the checkboxes that correspond to the ZIP/postal codes you would like to target.

  8. Click Save Changes to apply the targeted ZIP/postal codes to your campaign.

Note: Targeting by ZIP/postal codes could result in very little traffic, depending on the number of ZIP/postal codes you include and the population sizes within them.

Removing Targeted Regions

To remove targeted regions:

  1. Click the Campaigns tab. The Campaigns page opens.

  2. Identify a campaign and click its link. The Campaign Details page opens.

  3. Click the Campaign Settings link. The Campaign Settings page opens.

  4. Click the Edit button in the Campaign Geo-Targeting panel. The Campaign Geo-Targeting page opens.

  5. Click the Targeted Regions tab in the lower right panel. The tab opens with a list of the regions you currently have selected for targeting.

  6. If you want to remove all targeted regions, click Remove All. When prompted, click OK to confirm that you want to remove all of your targeted regions.

  7. If you want to remove specific regions that you have targeted, click the removal icon to the left of the region you want to remove.

  8. Click Save Changes to apply the changes to your campaign.

Notes:

  • Geo-targeting accuracy is not guaranteed and may vary depending on the level of targeting selected, as well as other factors.

  • Geo-targeting accuracy is impacted when we cannot determine a user's location from their IP address. If the location of the user cannot be determined then that user will not be served geo-targeted ads.

  • The United States and Canada market does not include French ads.
